If you are teaching a Blackboard course for the second time, your Blackboard adminstrator may have copied a previous course for you to modify. If so, you will discover that deleting announcements and discussion board entries is a tedious and time-consuming process. There is an easier way: the Control Panel course recycling. Follow these steps.
- Enter the Control Panel area by clicking on the "Control Panel" button at the bottom of the navigation frame in your course:
- When the Control Panel area appears, look to the bottom of the screen for the "Course Options" area and click on the "Course Utilities" link:
- When the Course Utilities area appears, click on the "Course Recycler" link. You do not need to click on the "OK" button unless you want to return to the "Course Utilities" area.
- When the Course Recycler area appears, check the "content areas" or "other areas" that you wish to delete. Be careful with this process because you will remove everything from that area. If there is something you want to keep in this area, save it before you complete this process. For example, if you want to remove all the messages from students on the Discussion Board but keep your own instructions for particular discussion forums or a group discussion board, first save your discussion forum instructions or other messges in a word processing document. Later you can recreate the discussion forum.
Note: Read these instructions carefully before deleting anything: "This utility allows you to recycle your course by selectively removing areas of your course. Simply select the area(s) that you want to remove the information from by checking the box next to each area. Type "Remove" in the box, and then click on the "Submit" button .
**Warning: this process is irreversible.
