- If you use RealOne Player to listen to or view media files through a computer network, you may not be able to connect to or open certain RealMedia (.ra or .rm) files. If you should be able to connect to the RealOnePlayer but the RealMedia file does not open, follow these five steps to change the network transport option.
- After you click the RealMedia file, the RealOne Player will appear on your screen. If you see the file name but it does not open, click the double "arrows" to the right of "File" on the menu bar at the top of the player:
- Click "Tools" on the menu that appears and then "Preferences" when the "Tools" menu appears:
- When the "Preferences" dialog box appears, look to the left of that box. Under the "Category" heading, click the "plus" sign in front of "Connection." When the Connection menu expands, click "Network Transports," as shown below:
- At this point the "Network Transports" dialog box will appear beside the "Category" column. Then click the check box in front of "Manually configure connection settings" and then the "RTSP" button, as shown above.
- When the "RTSP Network Transport" dialog box opens, click each checked box except the last one, leaving only a check in front of the "HTTP" setting, as shown below. Then click the OK button, and the RealMedia file should open to play the music or video file.
