If you are using a pop-up blocker when you are connected to the Internet, you may have difficulty taking tests in your Blackboard course or participating in the Discussion Board. The pop-up blockers in some Web browsers and Internet service providers may treat a Blackboard test or message in a Discussion Board forum as a pop-up. You have two options: - Disable your pop-up blocker while using Blackboard.
- Make sure that your pop-up blocker permits content from your Blackboard course. The following instructors are for Windows Explorer and AOL. Note: The instructions for the AOL Toolbar are similar to those for the Google and Earthlinks toolbars, which also contain pop-up blockers.
Instructions for Windows Explorer 6.0
- Click "Tools" on the Explorer menu bar at the top of your screen:

- Click "Pop-up Blocker" on the menu. Your first option is to select "Turn Off Pop-up Blocker":

- Your second option, after making sure that the Pop-up Blocker is turned on, is to choose "Pop-up Blocker Settings...."

- When the "Pop-up Blocker Settings" dialog box appears, enter the Web address of your Blackboard site. This address is the "Login" page of your college, the page before you enter your username and password:

- After you enter the address, click the "Add" button and the "Close":

Instructions for AOL UsersNote: The instructions for the AOL Toolbar are similar to those for the Google and Earthlink Toolbars, which also contain pop-up blockers. If you are an AOL member and connect to the Internet with the AOL browser, you should switch to the Internet Explorer browser because it is more compatible with Blackboard. Then follow these steps:
- When you open the Internet Explorer browser, go to the address of your Blackboard login page:

- Note: If you are unable to see the Web site, as shown below, then either the Blackboard server of your college is unavailable, or, as shown below, the AOL pop-up blocker is blocking the site:

- Click the "pop-ups" icon and check the menu item to "Allow Pop-ups" from your college's Web site:

- Next, click the "Pop-ups" icon again. Then click the menu item for "Set Pop-up Controls Preferences":

- When the "AOL Toolbar Settings" dialog box appears, type the Web address of your college's Blackboard login page in the box under "Allow Web pop-ups from these sites." For example, blackboard.faytechcc.edu, as shown below:

- Then click "Add" and "Save."
